Dec 1st, 1945- Bette Midler born in Honolulu, Hawaii

1966- Got work as an extra in the movie 'Hawaii'

1966-1969- Had a part in the chorus of Broadway's Fiddler On The Roof; later got part of the eldest daughter

1971- Got a job singing in the NYC bathhouses, where her nickname 'The Divine Miss M' was created

1972- Bette's debut record 'The Divine Miss M' was released

1973- Earned the Best New Artist Grammy after releasing her debut record 'The Divine Miss M'

1973- Bette's second record, 'Bette Midler' was released

1976- 'Songs For The New Depression' was released

1977- 'Live At Last' was released, followed by 'Broken Blossom'

1979- 'Thighs And Whispers' was released, along with the soundtrack to the movie featuring Bette's first real starring role, The Rose

1979- Bette's performance in the movie 'The Rose' earned her first Academy Award nomination for Best Actress In A Leading Role

1980- Bette's second live record, 'Divine Madness' was released

1982- The movie 'Jinxed!' was released

1983- Bette's next record, 'No Frills' was released

1984- Bette married Martin Von Haselburg

1985- 'Mud Will Be Flung Tonight' was released

1986- Touchstone's 'Down And Out In Beverly Hills' movie was released, earning Bette a Golden Globe nomination for Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion Picture - Comedy/Musical

1986- 'Ruthless People' was released- Danny DeVito who also starred in the movie was nominated for a Golden Globe, while Bette won The American Comedy Award for Funniest Actress in a Motion Picture (Leading Role)

1986- 'Outrageous Fortune' was made

1986- Bette's daughter, Sophie Von Haselburg was born

1987- 'Outrageous Fortune' was released

1988- 'Big Business', which also starred Lily Tomlin, was released

1988- 'Beaches' was released

1988- The soundtrack to Beaches was released- the song Wind Beneath My Wings won the Record Of The Year Grammy award

1990- Bette's next movie, 'Stella' was released, as was Bette's next record, 'Some People's Lives'

1991- 'Scenes From A Mall' with Woody Allen was released

1991- 'For The Boys'was released- Bette received her second Academy Award nomination for Best Actress In A Leading Role. The For The Boys soundtrack was released alongside this movie

1993- The movie 'Hocus Pocus' was released, as was Bette's greatest hits CD, 'Experience The Divine'

1993- Bette starred as Mama Rose in the television adaption of 'Gypsy'- she won a Golden Globe in the category Best Performance by an Actress in a Mini-Series or Motion Picture Made for TV. Bette also appeared on the soundtrack to Gypsy

1995- 'Bette Of Roses' was released. Bette also founded the charity NYRP (The New York Restoration Project) in this year

1996- 'The First Wives Club' was released- it became a Box Office hit

1997- 'That Old Feeling' was released, as was Bette's Diva Las Vegas concert special. Diva Las Vegas won two Emmys, and an American Comedy Award

1998- Bette's next record, 'Bathhouse Betty' was released

2000- 'Drowning Mona' and 'Isn't She Great' were both released

2000- Bette's short-lived sitcom 'Bette' premiered. Her next record, also entitled Bette was released

2003- Bette Midler Sings The Rosemary Clooney Songbook was released in tribute to the late Rosemary Clooney. Bette was nominated for a Grammy for this (she considered withdrawing, due to the fact that Ms Clooney herself had also been nominated in the same category)

2005- Bette starred alongside Nicole Kidman, Glenn Close, Matthew Broderick, Christopher Walken and Jon Lovitz in the remake of 'The Stepford Wives'

2005- Bette's next tribute record, 'Bette Midler Sings The Peggy Lee Songbook' was released onto dualdisc format, as well as CD

Dec 1st, 2005- Bette celebrated her 60th birthday!
